Private residence at Nea Penteli
Located in Nea Penteli, Athens this residence lies in a plot with a big height difference, that accounts for far views to Athens’ cityscape and the sea. In order to handle the sites steep inclination and have a clear building façade, planted levels gradually elevate from the entrance, which is the lowest point, up to swimming pool and the ground floor, while having an inclined pedestrian path on the side. The main building is divided in three levels: the ground floor with all the daily living spaces, the 1st floor with the bedrooms, and the attic that serves as an office space. Each and every room has access to its own balcony, which results to versatile openings on the façade and user’s privacy. Great emphasis was given on unifying the interior spaces with the exterior ones, especially the pool. In detail, a concrete pergola connects the entrance, the pool and the living room, but simultaneously a wide sliding window separates the living room and the courtyard, while maximizing the interior’s natural light illumination and offering generous exterior views. Lastly, the residence’s modern and urban look is completed by the material palette of fine plaster, stone and wood.
